Sexual Concerns
Sexual concerns, including sexual identity, orientation, trauma and addiction can be difficult problems, but must be addressed and treated in order to relieve conditions such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.
Addicts are often faced with more than one addiction. Coexisting addictions such as drugs and alcohol, and sex interact, reinforce and fuse together – a process known as Addiction Interaction Disorder (AID). If these coexisting addictions are not identified or treated, they can become chronic and progressive. Caron Renaissance offers specialized programming focusing on sexual concerns in additions to one’s drug and/or alcohol addiction. It is important to address other addictions as part of one’s recovery process; otherwise it can leave an individual at a high risk for chronic relapse, and maladaptive, self-destructive behaviors.
Caron Renaissance recognizes the difficult issue of sexual concerns, and the fact that they affect people of all walks of life; but that they can be successfully addressed and treated (registered sex offenders are not appropriate for this type of treatment). Caron Renaissance’s clinical team includes certified sex therapists who offer an environment that encourages openness and honesty for patients experiencing these types of sexual concerns.
