Addiction Treatment Florida

Caron Renaissance provides individualized care to address the many emotional, behavioral, and psychological inhibitions to sobriety one may experience in the context of a longer course of treatment. Caron Renaissance emphasizes the maintenance of an alliance between the treatment system and the family system through the use of Attachment Disorder therapy. This form of therapy is based on the understanding that attachment is a basic psychological and emotional need for all people. The therapy engages both patients and family members in learning healthier forms of attachment through interdependent relationships. Merging the concepts of the addiction interaction model and Attachment Disorder therapy provides a core of support through dynamic, ongoing clinical interventions. The result is a therapeutic environment likely to succeed in challenging self-deception, teaching non-enabling, and fostering a conscious process towards a healthy 12-step interdependence.

How It Works

At Caron Renaissance we create an atmosphere of growth that addresses all forms of addictive behavior and thinking while teaching patients how to form and develop healthy attachments with others. We engage the family. We educate and work with the family while we are educating and working with the patient. In our unique model, both the family and the patient are assigned their own therapist. That team works from within to tailor the best plan for each patient and their family.

Most addiction professionals and people in recovery from addictions have always known that recovery is not as simple as merely abstaining from ONE substance or behavior. Twelve-step recovery instinctively addresses the issues of addiction interaction and attachment disorder, but for many, this process is not immediately effective because the layers of addiction are intertwined with coexisting psychiatric disorders. This calls for treatment services in tune with the 12-step concepts yet deeply skilled in dealing with the more complex issues today's addicts and family members present.

Why It Works

Over and over again, we hear from families and loved ones that the patient who comes to Caron Renaissance is often failing at life. Our goal is to give our patients more than just a chemical-free life. We want to look at what’s holding the individual back from being successful. Usually addiction is simply a symptom -- not the core problem. We take a clinical look at each patient and challenge them to work outside of their comfort zone, while the safety net of Caron Renaissance’s clinical expertise and peer support creates an environment that promotes maturity and success.

Caron Renaissance uses a formula of longer term residential care in a supervised living setting which is by design NOT institutional. Patients who enter the program live in a supervised apartment setting with roommates and attend therapy in a nearby clinical office setting. Every patient is given a budgeted amount of money to purchase food and amenities during the treatment stay. In the meantime, the clinical emphasis is on recognizing and developing recovery plans for ALL forms of addiction and addictive thinking. In addition, the family members are brought into the process through the family services program. Caron Renaissance engages the patient in identifying and dealing with other disorders as they emerge, such as depression, anxiety disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder.

As patients progress, they either enter our vocational programming and/or work with our in-house collect consultants to consider returning or pursuing academic interests. This brings in a vocational and "life coaching" aspect to treatment. Once the patient is working or otherwise involved in education, he or she can process and deal with work and career-related issues while still in treatment. Also, as issues emerge in daily living with roommates and others in treatment, the patient can use the treatment community as a sounding board to learn new ways to adapt and relate. Finally, as family members and concerned others are brought into the mix, the family unit can identify and deal with some of the disruption that the addiction imposed on their family.
