Family Member Testimonials

Family members are the people who are most often impacted by addiction and often need to understand how they themselves can be a part of the recovery process. At Caron Renaissance, our treatment approach is brought to bear on family members as well as the patient with the chemical dependency. Inclusion in the addiction treatment process is ultimately an important part of the patient recovery.

“Prior to going to the family weekend, my daughter wasn’t working her program. Things really turned around after our experience at Renaissance because I was different; I was in therapy as well. I respected the way the staff at Caron Renaissance wanted to treat our whole family.”

“Until I got to Caron Renaissance for the workshop (for families), I just didn’t get it. I was at my own bottom. I was skeptical of the process. While I know there’s no magic cure for my son’s addiction, I can say I know he’s in the right place at Renaissance. If he continues to do the work, he can get there.”

“Caron Renaissance treats the mind, body and the soul. I really liked how they went beyond the addiction and to the underlying disorder.

My entire family participated in FEP (including my daughters). It was a wonderful experience. I learned so much. It went beyond just focusing on my son’s addiction. My entire family is dedicated to learning and participating and looking at this as a “whole”. It’s like peeling back an onion when you look at patterns of behavior that affected the entire family system. I not only learned from my family, but from other families who were also there to participate.

The workshop allowed everyone to voice their concerns and needs and to be put in a family circle. We were able to give into what we were really feeling, and let go of what others might think. The counselors really cut through all the bull and don’t let you off the hook. “
