What is Family Restructuring?

Residential Family Restructuring is an intensive workshop in which both the identified patient and family live together on our treatment campus. Sessions can run anywhere from one to four weeks, depending upon the availability of family members to participate and the clinical needs of the family.

Why would my family benefit?

Residential Family Restructuring assumes that ultimately, the entire family is “the patient” and needs help to have a new way of living, communicating, loving, affirming as well as holding each other accountable. A family in recovery will have relationships with each member in a fundamentally different manner; in fact, it will be a way of living they originally desired or they now see as more ideal and complete. Restructuring recognizes that the pain of each individual family member deserves clinical attention and care.

How does it work?

The family becomes imbedded in the entire Caron Renaissance experience and all live the same schedule of group work, individual counseling, classes, meetings and other activities. The residential setting, free of the normal distractions of work and home, serves to encourage the family to process each part of the program as it unfolds and affects each family member. Families find themselves finally able to talk about what’s been unspoken or minimized. And they have the opportunity to receive feedback from other patients and participating families.

How do we start?

Admission Case Specialists at Caron Renaissance are clinically oriented and start the process with questions and answers about the Family System. They discuss with the family how this clinical engagement might unfold in the most productive manner. The case specialists then remain the family’s advocates and continue the relationship during the length of formal treatment and follow-up care management.

How much does it cost?

Costs for the program vary depending upon the number of family members participating and the length of their stay. Costs for the program include fees for clinical services, room and board, and an initial deposit. Costs are always clearly explained before the program begins.
