Caron Renaissance uses a challenging clinical environment, excellent clinical staff, and involved, high-quality supervisory staff to attract the best possible people. Excellence and attention to detail are underlying standards even as constant innovation and development of new services occur. Many of the staff bring aspects of their personal recoveries into the flow of care; all staff operate with an attitude of respect and empathy for the recovery process as it unfolds with patients and families. All staff have the appropriate credentials, training, and experience for their assigned duties, but these credentials and experience are regarded as only the minimum standards for involvement on Caron Renaissance staff. A deeper expectation is that every staff member approaches each assignment with interest, dedication, and high personal integrity. Following are descriptions of current Caron Renaissance staff:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Sid Goodman, MA, LMHC, founded Palm Beach County's first extended care program in 1984. Formerly director of Core Services for the local community mental health center, Sid has considerable expertise in both chemical dependency and psychiatric treatment. Sid's interest in alternative forms of treatment led to expansion, including the development of structured outpatient programs in chemical dependency, co-dependency, and eating disorders. As the executive director of Renaissance Institute, Sid presents high quality, ethical, innovative treatment in a cost-and-time effective manner.
CLINCAL DIRECTOR
Robert L. Johnson, MC,CAP,MAC, has his specialized training in sexuality and family of origin issues. Robert has served in various capacities within the chemical dependency field beginning with his work at Behavioral Health of Baton Rouge. Robert's position as the primary psychotherapist for the well-known Sierra Tucson's Sexual Recovery Program allowed him to develop and refine his skills in this critical area of treatment. He specializes in facilitating groups for sexual compulsivity and childhood traumas, as well as presenting lectures on relevant topics. Robert has been with Caron Renaissance since 1994 and has served as a Primary Therapist and as Director of Family and Speciality Services during this tenure. His current position as Clinical Director is reflective of the skills he has garnered along the way. Robert has enhanced his abilities through years of training in many different therapeutic modalities, Psychodrama Training, and the University of Phoenix's Masters in Counseling program. Robert is also a Certified Trauma Therapist (C.T.T.) through the Post Traumatic Stress Institute in Houston, TX, and a Board Certified Sex Therapist in the state of Florida. Robert holds certifications and licenses in Arizona, Washington and Florida, and has expertise in mental health, multicultural, and forensic counseling. Among his many accomplishments, he is a Diplomat and Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

John later worked at two other centers in Minnesota before becoming a program director first in Illinois then in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to Florida to direct clinical services for a chain of addiction centers. He later worked for Hanley-Hazelden and then for the Renaissance Institute of the Palm Beaches (now known as Caron Renaissance). While the associate pastor for Covenant Centre International, John developed a regional counseling centre and a number of marriage and family programs.
