For Pastors, Clergy & Faith-Based Counselors

Why Should a Faith-based Counselor Refer to Caron Renaissance?
Following are several considerations:
-
Caron Renaissance is a non-sectarian program which understands the need for positive values and behaviors as an indication of mature recovery. Caron Renaissance philosophy and treatment services are directed toward the attainment of these goals. Spiritual services are interwoven with clinical services with the direction and assistance of spiritual care professionals.
-
Caron Renaissance understands and respects the spiritual diversity in our culture and makes no attempt to persuade or dissuade anyone regarding their personally held beliefs and religious practices. Patients have access to houses of worship, ministries, and consultation with spiritual leaders congruent with their personal faith background.
-
The clinical philosophy of Caron Renaissance resonates with the Judeo-Christian value systems and those of other faiths as well. The incorporation of ancient, proven practices such as yoga and the use of innovative programs such as Residential Family Restructuring demonstrate the commitment to foster spiritual and personal growth.
-
Clergy and other religious leaders are encouraged to maintain contact with Caron Renaissance during the treatment process and to conduct pastoral visits as indicated. Clergy may also take part in clinical activities directly as the need arises.
-
Caron Renaissance has a Spiritual Services department and staff with whom referring clergy and others can interact as the treatment process progresses.
-
The Spiritual Friday program offers all of our patients exposure to a wide variety of faiths through the community-based spiritual leaders who come in weekly to lead spiritually-centered discussion groups. This program helps create spiritual bridges between patients of widely varying backgrounds while still validating each person’s particular set of beliefs.
- Caron Renaissance takes great measures to assure that all our patients have their traditional spiritual activities validated and available. It is not unusual on any given weekend to see dozens of our patients voluntarily attending Shabbat Recovery Services, Celebrate Recovery, and worship at many different community-based venues. Orthodox Jews may spend Shabbos with a local rabbi, for example, and provisions are made to help others observe such activities as Ash Wednesday and Holy Week. Added to this, non-sectarian spiritual activities such as a “day of giving back” are scheduled frequently to help our patients understand the value of esteemable acts as they help others.
Caron Renaissance will continue to offer and develop spiritual services with the help of recognized spiritual and recovery professionals.
"Even as an evangelical, I don't always automatically refer to a faith-based program; some of them will not accept a patient who may need mental health services as well. So when I need to get a parishioner or family member of a parishioner into an intensive family program that can handle some of the other issues, Caron Renaissance is my first choice. They allow time for the patient to continue his own spiritual program, and their program in no way conflicts with ours. It just makes the patient a better church member when he returns." - Pastor, Lake Park, Florida
