For Families

Caron: Family

Caron Renaissance has long recognized how important it is to engage families and concerned others in the treatment process. The emphasis on challenging self-deception and the non-enabling approach further justifies an intense, recovery-oriented family program. Attachment Disorder therapy also benefits from the insights and interactions that occur when family members take part in the process. To this end, Caron Renaissance has developed extensive family services, which begin even before the patient is admitted.

A critical alliance is formed with staff and the family which greatly enhances the effectiveness of the treatment process. Family members are in regular contact not only with an assigned family therapist, but with the patient's primary therapist as well. Family members are also invited to attend a "family workshop" program as the patient's recovery progresses. This means attending intensive family group sessions with and without the patients.

Family members may also be involved in individual interventions which may include "impact visits." Regular telephone contact with the family therapist and the patient's therapist takes place during the entire treatment process.
