Frequently Asked Questions

A drug rehab and alcohol treatment facility providing addiction services for more than 20 years, Caron Renaissance is located in Boca Raton, Florida. Following are questions commonly asked by prospective patients and their families and loved ones about personalized addiction treatment services at Caron:

Q: If I have never been a patient in a treatment facility, is Caron Renaissance the right addiction center for me?
A: Absolutely. Many of our patients are in treatment for their first time. What is most important is that the individual and family are ready to commit to the treatment process.

Q: Is there an estimated duration of stay for treatment at Caron Renaissance?
A: At Caron Renaissance, the minimum treatment period is 90 days. However, the process evolves from intensive clinical treatment to a period where patients are still connected to treatment, but are taking on more real world responsibilities such as getting a job. We call this “stepping down,” which is reflected in the cost of treatment with each successive month costing substantially less.

Q: What are the sources of funding available to patients?
A: Caron provides access to care through extensive scholarship opportunities. Each year, about $10 million in scholarship is given out across our continuum of programs.

Q: If a patient needs medical detoxification services, are they available on-site at Caron Renaissance?
A: Patients in need of detox will do so at nearby Haney Center, which is also part of the Caron Treatment Centers continuum of care. Patients will stay at Hanley Center for usually up five days. In this time staff at Caron Renaissance will receive daily updates from the doctors at Hanley Center regarding the patient’s progress in order to ensure a smooth transition into treatment.

Q: Once a patient enters treatment, how long will it be before he or she can receive visits from family members and friends?
A: Treatment at Caron Renaissance is individualized and specific to each patient who walks through our doors. This includes a timeframe for visits from family and loved ones which will be determined as part of the patient’s individualized treatment plan in order to best fit the specific needs of each patient in order to achieve sustained recovery.

Q: What percentage of patients accepted into Caron Renaissance have previously participated in alcohol treatment and/or drug rehab programs?
A: Approximately 50% of patients coming to Caron Renaissance have previously participated in other alcohol and drug treatment programs.

Q: What should I expect from the Family Restructuring Program at Caron Renaissance?
A: The Residential Family Restructuring Workshop at Caron Renaissance is cutting edge treatment for the entire family. In this unique program, the family is the patient and the patient is the family. The program can be completed while your loved one is still in treatment or at a time that better suites your schedule. More information about the program can be found at: http://www.caronrenaissance.org/residential-family-restructuring-program.html

Q: How often will a parent be in contact with their child who is undergoing treatment?
A: While each patient and situation is addressed on an individual basis, with most young adult patients (who do not have children) we typically institute a 30 day period of no calling. Our time-tested practices show that this can be critical for both the young adult patient and the family. This period allows the family to detox from the obsession around getting help for the addicted patient. Likewise, it allows the patient time to do some essential work on taking responsibility for his or her life as an adult. In fact, we find that the biggest defense against addiction is psychological maturity. The more mature, responsible and capable young adults are in terms of their self-care, relationships and career the better chance that they will remain sober. Of course, if there are extenuating circumstances, such as a seriously ill loved one, we will definitely make sure the patient can connect as appropriate.

Q: What is the difference between the “Florida Model” for addiction treatment and a traditional drug rehab program?
A: The Florida Model reflects a psychotherapy and 12-step based treatment philosophy that takes place on two campuses. There is a clinical campus and a residential campus. The philosophy is to make the treatment experience less institutional and more of a “real world” setting. For example, instead of the patient living on a campus where three meals are provided to him in a cafeteria setting, the patient must purchase and prepare food with the guidance of counselors and mentors in the program.

Q: How does the addiction counselor work with the addict’s family throughout treatment?
A: At Caron Renaissance, families need to be as engaged as the patient for the greatest chance of a healthy recovery. Family members are engaged throughout the process and will be required to do their own treatment work through Caron and 12-Step programs.

Q: What are the Caron Renaissance facilities like?
A: South Florida is often referred to as the “recovery capital of the world,” which is why Caron Renaissance chose to open our Boca Raton rehabilitation center in the heart of the recovery community.
