Frequently Asked Questions
Admitting yourself or a family member to a drug rehab or alcohol treatment facility can be an emotional and overwhelming experience. Please review these frequently asked questions to help you get a better understanding of what to expect for you or your loved one.
I have never been a patient in a treatment facility. Is Caron Renaissance the right addiction center for me? Many of our patients are in treatment for the first time and find the experience to be valuable and rewarding. It will be determined during the admissions process if you are an appropriate candidate for Caron Renaissance, but what is most important is that the individual and family are ready to commit to the treatment process.
What percentage of patients accepted into Caron Renaissance have previously participated in addiction programs? Approximately 50 percent of patients coming to Caron Renaissance have previously participated in other alcohol and drug treatment programs.
How can I know that treatment will work for me? There are no guarantees that anyone who enters treatment for addiction to drugs or alcohol will get and remain sober for the rest of their lives. If your life, or the life of a loved one, however, has become unmanageable due to addiction, Caron Renaissance can provide the tools you’ll need for the work of recovery. In addition to thorough, personalized treatment, you’ll also benefit from our incomparable aftercare services that provide ongoing support once primary treatment ends.
I worry that I won’t be able to afford addiction treatment. Is there any financial help available? Caron provides access to care through extensive scholarship opportunities for qualifying patients and families. Each year, about $10 million in scholarships is given out across our continuum of programs.
My husband refuses to admit that he has a problem and won’t even talk about rehab, but his drinking is destroying our family. What options do I have? Many people in your situation employ the services of an interventionist – a person who is professionally trained to help family members and friends address the issue of addiction with their loved one. At Caron Renaissance, admissions specialists utilize an intervention model and, if necessary, will refer you to an outside interventionist.
Is there an estimated duration of stay for treatment at Caron Renaissance? At Caron Renaissance, the minimum treatment period is 84 days. However, we are not a calendar-driven program, but a clinically driven one, meaning that the program varies in length based on individual needs and circumstances. The treatment process evolves from intensive clinical treatment to a period in which patients are still connected to treatment, but are taking on more real world responsibilities, such as getting a job or returning to school. We call this “stepping down.” Patients who are in the “stepping down” process keep different schedules and their fees are lower than for patients in intensive clinical treatment.
What are the Caron Renaissance facilities like? South Florida is often referred to as the “recovery capital of the world,” and Caron Renaissance is located in the heart of it in Boca Raton. Our state-of-the-art, 23,000 square-foot clinical campus was completed in December 2008. The Caron Renaissance residences are located about 1.5 miles from the clinical center on a newly renovated, lush 7-acre campus. Patients live in fully furnished, garden-style apartments.
With an enviable climate, stunning beachfront, opportunities to attend 12-Step meetings, abundant employment options and more, Caron Renaissance’s Boca Raton rehab location offers a perfect backdrop for the important work of recovery. Although our rehab center is headquartered in Boca Raton, we accept patients from all over the United States and the world.
If a patient needs medical detox services, are they available on-site at Caron Renaissance? Patients in need of detox will do so at the nearby Hanley Center, also part of the Caron Treatment Centers family of treatment facilities. The length of stay in detox is medically determined. During the period of detox, family members receive updates from Hanley medical staff, who employ telemedicine to keep families informed regarding a patient’s progress. This helps to ensure a seamless transition into treatment once detox has been completed.
How long must a patient be at Caron Renaissance before family members and friends can visit? Treatment at Caron Renaissance is individualized and specific to each patient, including the amount of time before visits are permitted. Clinicians will confer with you and family members regarding visits, as all visits are clinically, not socially driven.
Is it important to have family members involved with their loved one’s treatment? It is imperative that family members are involved. At Caron Renaissance, we believe that “the patient is the family, and the family is the patient,” and our treatment reflects that philosophy. Family members are required to do their own treatment work through Caron Renaissance and 12-Step programs, and strongly encouraged to participate in an intensive Family Workshop. Some families also participate in Residential Family Restructuring. (see next question).
What should I expect from the Residential Family Restructuring at Caron Renaissance? Family Restructuring is a cutting edge workshop for the entire family or individual family members. In this unique program, the patient is the family and the family is the patient. Family members agree to become immersed into the treatment process and begin to see that recovery is a parallel process. Living together in a clinical setting is likely to surface many family and relationship dynamics needing clinical attention, addressing both personal and family issues. The process helps unblock emotional barriers to personal and family recovery which if otherwise unaddressed would increase the potential for relapse.
