Admissions

Florida-based Caron Renaissance’s addiction treatment philosophy is based on the idea that the family is the patient and the patient is the family. From the moment when a potential patient, their loved ones or a referring professional reaches out to Caron Renaissance, and throughout the treatment process, the family as a unit is a main focal point.

Admission to Caron Renaissance is a clinically-driven process, with both patient and family commitment being the driving force. Case Specialists will work with a prospective patient, their family members, as well as the referent, to gather clinical information to determine if the patient and their family are a good clinical fit for treatment at Caron Renaissance.

From the perspective of the prospective patient’s family, in order to be a good match with the treatment programs at Caron Renaissance, the family should be:

Caron Renaissance Case Specialists assess the patient medically and clinically to determine if the patient is appropriate for treatment at Caron Renaissance. Case Specialists will also consult with a staff psychiatrist and/or the Caron Renaissance Medical Director, who is board certified in addiction medicine, regarding the assessment of a potential patient.

Once a patient and their family are determined to be clinically appropriate for Caron Renaissance, the Case Specialist will work with other clinical staff to determine who will make up a patient’s individualized treatment team. Case Specialists establish contact with family members, therapists and other professionals from the onset of the admissions process. During these family contacts, key clinical information is gathered which allows the Case Specialists’ to form valuable clinical insight that is instrumental in a patient’s individualized treatment.

Additionally, during the admission process, a separate therapist is identified for the family. Upon admission of the patient, the family begins their own therapeutic process, initially from home if they do not reside near the facility. This process leads up to a 3-day Family Workshop that takes place at Caron Renaissance. Prior to this, the family will receive weekly calls from a Caron Renaissance family therapist. The focus is on assisting the family clinically, and may include such things as learning how to support their loved one versus enable them. Families also receive weekly calls from their loved one’s therapist regarding the progress they are making. Caron Renaissance sees this as parallel yet tandem process, recognizing the need to treat the entire family system comprehensively.
